SMAN 11 Bandung has successfully completed the school quality development program held by Sampoerna Foundation United Schools Program (SF USP) for three years. Programs and Alumni Affairs Director Sampoerna Foundation (SF) Eddy Henry, Wednesday (12/8) said that SMAN 11 Bandung is expected to be "Center of Education Excellence" in Bandung city.
The major programs that tremendously influenced the school quality
include numerous programs for Senior Management Team (Principal and
Vice Principals), teachers, school facility improvement, student and
other school communities development. School leadership and school
management such as Principal Mentoring, Leadership Training, HR
Management training, presentation skills, effective meeting were
provided. Teachers’ competencies in mastering subject content and
pedagogy skills, classroom management, lesson planning, subject
contents, curriculum development, English language and Information
Technology were also conducted. Sponsoring the principal and teachers
to various conferences, such as the Indonesia Teachers Conference and
study visit to United World College in Singapore, and collaborating
them with top private and international schools in the country have
improved their network as well as exposing them to ideas to improve
themselves more. Students’ activities were also put in the list and
were responded with great enthusiasm.
Head of Bandung Education office, Oji Mahroji, proudly stated in
Bandung Tribun (12/8), one of the local newspaper, that just in short
time, the school that was in cluster 3 has succeeded to reach cluster
1. There are certain amounts of complex assessment that the school
should pass and SMAN 11 Bandung proves itself to meet all the
requirements.
In addition, more and more students have marked prestigious
achievements in regional, nasional and even in South East competition.
"More and more parents trust the school as the number of enrolling
students keep increasing. " states Wardoyo, the Principal.
Wardoyo shares the secret of the school success is because of Sampoerna
Foundation through SF USP. "We have had this golden opportunity since
2006, and we praise the Lord that the programs have significantly
positive impacts." he added.
Meanwhile, Eddy Henry explained that SF USP focused on the State owned
schools, as there are more students willing to enroll in these kinds of
schools. We have not figured out any plan for the future as SMAN 11
Bandung is expected to be a role model in its surrounding schools.
Hopefully the school can be the Center of Education Excellence as it is
supposed to be.
