| Principals Agree to Head for School Improvement with Quality Indicators |

Principal Mentoring V Program, Depok, 25 – 26 November 2008. Attended by principals from USP, USI and MQIP schools, this two-day event was held after USP graduation ceremony of SMAN 3 Depok.
Being the host of this program, Mr. Achmadi, the principal of SMAN 3 Depok had an opportunity to give his first presentation about his school profile and efforts towards quality betterment. To close the session, Mr. Wardoyo, the principal of SMAN 11 Bandung shared his views on the parameters used to measure schools’ quality development.
The second day started with a presentation of SMA LabSchool Unsyiah describing its school conditions and programs and followed by Mr. Andi Prasetyo, a representative of SF USP explaining about School Quality Indicators. Next, there was a sharing session from Pesantren Madura about their activities. The participants then discussed about school current issues such as free-charge education, teacher certification, etc.
The participants admitted that they obtained many advantages from the sharing of School Quality Indicators as it was viewed to be very useful for the principals to determine the extent of their schools’ improvement. “Learning about School Key Quality Indicators is very helpful to improve our schools,” said Ibu Niken Asih Santjojo, SMAN 10 Malang Principal. She also wished that this kind of topic would be continuously of the issue and even committed to start implementing what she learned starting from the simplest approach.
Closing the event, the participants were asked to give feedback about what they have gained during all five events of Principal Mentoring Program. And the result was very positive. Many of them realized that this program was worth doing. |
