There will be more next month
CSP (Community Service Project) – the contribution of SMAN 1 Pandaan students need to be taken as a good example. Founded as a take-and-give project, CSP enabled them to sincerely contribute to the community. A CSP tutor explained its background, “In the beginning, this is a compulsory program initiated by Putera Sampoerna Foundation to all USP schools. And SMAN 1 Pandaan is the only USP School in Pasuruan Regent. Filled with contribution to the society; This program makes them willing to sacrifice their time to socialize it.” Pak Amin uttered. They expressed their love to the community by visiting old folks’ home, opening Reading Park, giving community service such as constructing small courses to share their knowledge. Additionally, their affection to their environment was reflected through planting a small garden in front of each classroom.
This was the initial step for them in making small changes for the big ones. Moreover, they ought to compose reports of the completely implemented programs, which will serve as additional affective scores for the Citizenship and Religion subject. Those reports will then be submitted at the end of every semester.
Their hard work was paid off with awards for the most interesting three groups of CSP and 2 runner-ups. One of the most interesting CSP groups admitted, “Through CSP activities, I teach my little brothers and sisters from Elementary and Junior High schools, we teach Math, Social, English every Sunday. Sometimes we are overloaded in handling 80 participants but we were very happy to be able to share our knowledge with them”. It is obvious that they don’t only academically perform but also acquire a strong sense of social responsibility. Pak Amin added,”Actually, I am facing some difficulties in managing this program. There is no special team that could manage its activities. However, CSP has planned to do more exposure so that the communities would be more familiar with this program. In addition, one of the advantages taken from this CSP is that it has driven the sense of community and environment awareness.” This program will be continued shortly after Lebaran. |

There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.
